Deranged, fully-loaded and dub-destroyed...KIDS basically making this kinda music somewhere on the outskirts of Osaka in 1980.Almost nothing is known about the mysterious Mad Tea Party other than their involvement in the intriguing YLEM label (which is whole other wormhole to fall into) and this incredible artefact on Yuzuru Agi’s precious Vanity label.Three tracks, each taking a different route - ‘Hide And Seek’ with twangy garagey guitars and a double-decker baseline sat ridiculously high in the mix and ‘Modern Time’s Pop’ with quite harrowing child-like backward vocals.Best track gotta be ‘In A Tea Bag’ though, so loose, stoned, can’t-be-arsed-vocals and totally destroyed in the mix, pockmarked with dub-craters all over.Seriously who were these people.Frighteningly cool with true DIY design aesthetic / paste-on postcard sleeve. The real deal.(NM/VG+)
