Genuinely one of the most beautiful pieces of music !!!! Repressed. (Mint / New)
This record is pure joy. Listening now with the windows open and the sun streaming in is the perfect medicine. It’s an unlikely thing - a twenty minute avant jazz record that’s also an incredible life affirming pop song. A brilliant reimagining of free jazz as a communal dance in a dusty sun struck public square. It’s propelled by a hypnotic looping piano figure from Tusques himself that runs right through, keeping the whole thing together, a alternative Mediterranean version of Kraftwerk’s chilly Europe Endless concept, reminding me of those Chene Noir records or the best bits of Magma. Horns and bird calls come and go, percussion booms and rattles, and then the soaring whooping voice of Carlos Andreu comes in and the record takes off. Again, we could be in Christian Vander territory in terms of startlingly ecstatic vocalese, but there are also hints of Antoine Tome or Henri Texier. Sheer loveliness. The original is a total grail so this is the very definition of a public service reissue.”
