Recollects is Baron’s second solo LP, recorded in September 2016 in the Boundary Waters between Superior National Forest in northern Minnesota and Quetico Provincial Park in southwest Ontario. Armed with a canoe and a bag of cassette tape recordings of family histories from the early 90’s, Recollects brings together the familiar sound of nature with fuzzy memories of times gone by. We’re reminded of some of our favourite sound-art pieces by the likes of Matthew Sullivan or Graham Lambkin, the gravitational pull of every-day sounds put into focus and irresistible eavesdropping of other people’s chatter.
