OG copy of this (until recently) overlooked electro-acoustic synapse-sizzler from pioneering Swiss electronics musician Bruno Spoerri and sound sculpturist Betha Sarasin. A textual mish-mash throughout, the piece journeys from garbled vocal cut-ups and ominous noir-lounge-jazz minimalism before descending into billowing drones and great swathes of atonal pressure produced by Sarasin's 'electromagnetically oscillated stainless steel' which is now vibrating to produce hallucinogenic, alien noise before retreating to reveal a delicate chamber piece tainted by subtle electronics. And that's just the A-side! The trip home mashes up smoozing jazz to dizzying computer interference and tumbling industrial drums, yet what's really unique about this one is the interdisciplinary sparing match between jazz, sculpture, cutting edge synthesis (at the time), traditional avant-garde / chamber music and unbridled experimentation which follows in a similar vein to pioneering European works by Gruppo d'Improvvisazione, Alvin Curran / MEV, Luc Ferrari the the likes. High geekery for sure, but crucial for anyone who regularly nosedives down the Creel Pone rabbit hole.. (Vinyl VG++ / Sleeve VG)
