Asha Sheshadri returns with her first volley for Stockport's Regional Bears.. (Mint / New)
"Will you try to stand by me and look at something beautiful is organized around acts of looking that expand, collapse, repeat, and arrive too early or too late. Familiar places loosen from their names: an airport terminal is recast as a mise-en-scène, a photograph of evergreens becomes a set of instructions, climate and architecture become testimony. Image-derived sound, private archives, invented documents, and screenplays are arranged less as evidence than as unstable coordinates. The record asks: How do places absorb projection? How do images outlive their referents? How does beauty become most legible at the precise moment mutual perception fails?

Asha Sheshadri moves freely between writing, sound, and image. Her work centers on the instability of memory, collisions between personal and political archives, and the ways spaces register recollection, power, and desire. Working through translations between image and sound, as well as fictional and research-led narratives, she assembles disparate materials into constellations of experience.
Her work has been released by Recital Program, Anomia, HOLD, Entr’acte, Stellage, and Mille Plateaux. She lives and works in California."
