Two equally intrepid and bewildering takes on a shared vision of ‘outsider psychographic music’ from Les Disques Omnison chief / Tabi Tape wunderkind Tom Val and Madrid-based underground key-worker Pablo Mirón (of Miradasvacas / Ediciones Fontenebro fame).

There’s nothing better than being tied in knots from a new mixtape and this split offering from two of the most exciting emergent talents of the European DIY underground is exactly the sort of deep-tissue brain massage we’ve been yearning for.  Perfectly in sync with the changing seasons - darker mornings, earlier nights and a now unignorable chill in the air - both young artists here take different routes with the same shared pursuit.  Pablo’s side journeys through gently paced, sepia-tinted solo piano movements to spell-binding regional folk with a killer Satie cover of totally unknown origin thrown in the mix.  Tom Val’s contribution perpetuates a similar vision of The Old Continent albeit in a much more maimed and disorientating manner, summoning the sort of 360° head-fuck we haven’t really experienced since Pianola’s Tabi Tape 1.  Densely layered fragments of antiquated field-recordings collide with ghostly classical records and the kind of private lo-fi recordings that should have never left the bedroom.  The sort of mixtape you’ll be endlessly scrubbing through just to work out exactly what’s happened - the best of recent times - WILD!!!  (Mint / New - with free DL - 1 per person pls).
