Yeehaw… absolute head-wrecker from Bristolian outpost Between Stations, harnessing the dark power of the CHUG to maximum effect on one of the best mixtapes we’ve encountered for some time.
Paris-based enfant terrible Tolouse Low Trax requires little introduction to anyone familiar with this store. His 45-minute selection here proves why he basically owns the patent to 105bpm, working his way through a weird ’n wobbly array of trudging, dub-drenched, drug-riddled downtempo in a surprisingly seamless manner that totally runs contrary to his somewhat wayward reputation. It’s effortlessly drunk-chic, somehow making even the most uncool pioneer mixer effect (that of the beat crush) seem quite stylish. Bristol scene key-worker Zato doesn’t disappoint on the B-side, complimenting TLT’s selection with a wonderfully lopsided array of low-slung drum tracks and mutant bass cuts all threaded together with finesse. A future classic now comfortably hard-filed in the shop’s own Saturday listening stack. Crazy. (Mint / New - with free DL). .
