God tier sonic genesis and acousmatic composition from the late legendary French composer Bernard Parmegiani for the faultless INA-GRM series.  Unquestionably one of the most important and stunning works of musique concrète, Parmegiani takes on the role of a scientist investigating the very nature of sound, plucking sounds out of their natural habitat and refracting them through electronic processing until they reveal their inherent molecular-level acoustic properties.  It’s a vivid sound-world of precise tones and erratic yet sudden percussive bursts that lend themselves to a sense of drama and narrative.  It’s almost unbelievable to imagine this being made in the mid 70’s and whilst for those venturing into the daunting world of early electronic music for the first time, it’s easy to follow the cord back to this level of precise, meticulous sound design from contemporary electronica or the chopped up / sample-heavy techno / jungle / hardcore of the 90s.  Absolutely mind-blowing..
