Zap your mind!!!! Bombed-out psychedelic brain curdle from the legendary Siltbreeze label outfit Un - a previously mostly non-existent cassette handed out at shows in the mid 90s now inexplicably back in print. Saddle up.
Comprised of US artists Marcia Basset, Grant Acker and Tom Roach, Un were a brutally short-lived group who fruited just two releases in the mid 90s, one of which (their untitled LP) we continue to hold very close to our hearts having pretty much set the standard for beautifully demolished lo-fi song craft. Curiosity (read desperation) for more from this lot lead to the discovery of this mid 90s nugget - a highly coveted merch-table relic - showing a much looser and amorphous side to the group that was originally sold at gigs. You can almost imagine the setting. Somewhere three artists in a dingy Philly practice room, engulfed in a gauzy green haze of weed smoke just letting the sound pour out. It’s a muggy expanse of thick, swirling guitar drones unspooling amidst dilapidated cosmic synths that all wonderfully collide to create a dense and drowsy sound space. Although weirdly not oppressive, there’s bags of space here to wander around, recalling that killer Keiji Haino / Loren Connors live co-lab LP or a rogue Makoto Kawabata freakout. Wonderfully unadulterated cosmic music for the gutter dwellers. Limited reprint. (Mint / New - with free DL)
