Second instalment to the trio of outings privately released by US duo Robert Hollis and Christopher Swartz via their own Perimeter Records imprint.  Their two other releases have appeared on this site at one time or another - but this one 'Music For Homebuilt Instruments' is their arguably their most wayward, which by default most interesting.  I mean the title / concept / cover alone should be enough to grip most of yooz attention - two blokes dedicating their life to building their own instruments, writing songs, record and self-releasing their output with a commercial potential of absolute zero.  But the tracks are great,  if a little incoherent, ranging from tentative art-rock guitar / big drum duets, to more twangin' bits to odd jangly polyrhythmic frolics, yet it's well recorded and the unusual timbres produced from their creations are enough to maintain interest throughout.  Struggling to think of an all-round more DIY record than this..
