This is the soundtrack for the feature-length film "Untamagiru" by director Takamine Tsuyoshi, known for his Okinawa-themed films. I'd love to have this one on hand alongside his previous work, "Paradise View" (by Hosono Haruomi). This is a fantasy Okinawan miniature garden music by Ueno Koji of Guernica, Halmens, and 8 1/2. While Ueno himself apparently didn't have traditional Okinawan music in mind when he created it, it somehow manages to sound like that melody. This collection of short pieces, filled with sensual colors and fantastical images, is filled with sweet melodies and a dizzying allure. (Mint / New)
