Behold! Deadstock haul of this 90’s UK dub-techno private release from the Xes Noise crew via their Nation Of Noise label. The influence of the mighty Basic Channel is so out-front and obvious on this one it actually works in its favour, the opening ‘Owskaflipt’ cut follows in the footsteps of the indomitable ‘Phylyps Trak II/II’, with that icy dub-stab on the two keeping the groove in check, but there’s a very UK, dare-I-say free-party kinda vibe going on that promotes what would otherwise be ANOTHER Basic Channel rip off to something worthy of ya time. Elsewhere there’s more stripped ’n rips cuts like on ‘B2’, or the ‘B3’ which again echoes the dilapidated dub-techno styles from the more experimental side of BC / Cyrus, more specifically either Radiance / Inversion, can’t quite put my finger on it now, maybe you can. Outside of the obvious plagiarism / respectful homages, A3 cut ‘Natural + Free’ builds slowly of watery dub-scapes and unfolds into a heavy, dubbed-out + trudging breaks-filled mass that continues to build momentum throughout, making for a perfect opener should, you know, clubs actually ever open again. Limited copies - unplayed. (NM/NM).
