Top one discharged from the irresistibly enigmatic Werkbund unit (person, people, machine?) who occupy a particular pocket of German industrial / ambient music renown for their infrequent transmissions that reach as far back as 1987 and has had strongest ties with late Hamburg composer Mechtchild Von Leusch, along with Asmus Tietchens and other German experimentalists on the fringe.  A sound tricky to pin down in place or time; great swatches of shimmering, evolving, modulating noise; a sea-sick mechanical marriage of North Sea folklore and metallic electronics that seems to yoke the likes of Bruce Gilbert, Harry Bertoia, François Bayle, Torsten's Dynamo project and then the whole NWW / Heemann / Coil spectrum all at once, but still be ENTIRELY it's own thing.  Holy names in the ANF playbook, which I feel forced to wheel out as I'm not sure there is the adequate vocabulary that really comes anywhere near this stuff.  The deepest, sloshing, shimmering soundscapes.  Dense, otherworldly and engulfing as anything else I've encountered, equally brutish as it is strangely comforting to the point you don't want to leave...(NM/NM)
