Following the dissolution of Young Marble Giants, Alison Statton went onto form Weekend whose influential 1982 album La Varieté would become a touchstone for the likes of Belle & Sebastian and Saint Etienne.
Contained here however are the near mythical demo versions that seem to occupy a best of both worlds space between the two projects, indulging the more sophisticated sound world of Weekend whilst maintaining that singular bare intimacy of YMG.
A timeless release as far as we're concerned, and lovingly here reissued by Blackest Ever Black.. (NM)
