CLUB MUSIC! Primo left-of-centre Detroit house / techno 12” from lesser mentioned producer Walt J on David Whiteside and Claude Young’s sporadic Dow Records outpost - Divinity! Walt’s super stripped, repetitious production is instantly recognisable and ruthlessly catchy, but there’s this odd home-brewed DIY charm to these Dow 12”s that stand out. A-side sets into an upbeat ridged kick / clap stomp with little percussive shuffle and this real amateur and slightly irritating but equally amazing chord progression, whilst the following cut its a heart-racing 148bpm stomper that strafes into sorta ghetto-tek / DJ Assault zones - mental! The whole side on the flip rolls out really crisp, rolling / loopy drums and funny detuned chords.. blurghhh no point even describing this!! Check the clips.. KILLER 12” for the heads! (NM/NM)
