Lyster's untiring YOUTH imprint strips out some of the ballistic missiles originally debuted on that killer SPORTS CD comp for a crucial VA 12" platter offering the finest spread contemporary club music has to offer. Considering the ferocious quality of the 16 cuts on the CD, whittling it down to just four (plus one previously unreleased) was surely a pretty daunting task but the selections are perfect - first with LDWG's scorched, distorted, shower-dodging 'DRM1MKIII' which is a prime example of that sorta scruffy beat-down MPC spew and invites my evergreen comparison to that epic Vampire Of Tehran CD from Muslimgauze (check it if u dunno!).. whilst Kassem's 'Silica Gel' goes an altogether lonelier route yet maintaining that key tempo for the early hours dance and entrenched with enough of a forlorn atmosphere to flush out any misplaced optimism in the club - perfect. Grischa Lichtenberger takes some of the needle-point detailing and more academic (blugh) leaning ideas flaunted on previous Raster-Noten outings and distills them into a creeping, electrically charged moment of early-hours tension whilst Manchester’s much-loved enfant terrible FUMU makes the cut with his sea-sick ode to FM synthesis, rounded off by the exclusive laser assault ‘MHG’ from SENSU. A total knockout, expect these to fly.. you’z bin warned!! (Mint / New)
