Label: Crammed Discs – CRAM 029, Normal – NORMAL 4 Series: Made To Measure – Vol. 1 Format: Vinyl, LP, Album Country: Germany Released: 1984 Genre: Electronic, Rock Style: Downtempo, Minimal, New Beat, Experimental
Inaugural instalment to the killer Crammed Discs more experimental spin off series Made To Measure. This one gets the key label heavyweights together and compiles the more left-field / obscure offerings originally composed for fashion shows, films, adverts and general commissions. Israeli post-punk outfit Minimal Company serve up some uber-cool, avant-wave sorta stuff, with Tuxedomoon providing three genre-bending cuts focused generally around electronics (special note to the mega 'Driving To Verdun'). However, the star of the show here is Aksak Maboul with the droning, shoe-gazy tape-loop classic 'Scratch Holiday' AND 'Odessa' - a catchy east-meets-west left-field folk cut that's fit for a medieval banquet hall with jesters. So good. A shop staple! (Vinyl & Sleeve NM).
