Seldom sighted minimal house / tech double pack on Aspect Music - the short-lived tech-house (NOT a dirty word) imprint ran by Thomas Melchior that birthed just 3 incredible records between 00-01, and squeezed out a few more later on but let’s ignore those for now.Admittedly a confusing time for dance music, much of that techy, mnml house stuff time from the around the turn of the millennium time has NOT been kind to - but if anything has endured from that period of dodgy V-necks and cheap speed it’s the output of Melchior + Baby Ford.Their duo stuff here as Soul Capsule Productions appears three times, first with the awkward microscopic plinky-plonk funk of ‘Forever Love’ and the more free-floating glacial tech flow on ‘Evolved’.Its the two Dark Boys tracks here though, a collaboration again with Melchior and Bruno Maman (who is this guy??) that stand out, ‘Pluto Rising’ with it’s rounded, bubbling bass and crisp, clattering percussion and ‘The Prayer’ - surely the finest moment, an eerie, windswept reduction with a low-end the size of a boeing 737 that’ll shake the club to its core.Tried and tested!Mad spenny double-pack but undoubtably the cream of the crop.(NM/NM - top copy // BOTH LPs).
