Steamrolling Manchester uber-label Sferic comes in heavy with this fizzing, hypnogogic double disc suite from total unknown artist TIBSLC. Gradually composed over the course of 8 months in 2020 just on the outskirts of the urban sprawl, the album captures the duality where city life frays into the wide and open environments that exist in nature. It embraces the hypersensitivity towards small movements, huge spaces and ambiguous emotions through the use of textural juxtaposition and the exploration of micro-rhythmic dynamics. Subtly embedding melodic narratives within large, lesser defined environments, TIBSLC exposes the spatial qualities of sound whilst maintaining a birds-eye view of the aural composition at large, subtracting and blending various layers of analogue / gradual synthesis with field recordings executed with a sympathetic ear for sentiment and admiration for musical contradiction. Highest recommends for followers of the label's already esteemed roster, West Mineral diaspora or those with a penchant for spacial aural dynamics. Big drool over the design too... (Mint / New)
