OG Shadow Ring CD on Corpus Hermeticum. (NM)
Initially penned as a compilation of outtakes for their 1995 US tour, Wax Work Echoes sees Graham and Darren fold Tim Goss into a new found sense of direction for what would calcify The Shadow Ring for the remaining years of their legendary 10 year run. Who says vermin are shy?
The introduction of Tim Goss’ shrilly curdled synth work would invigorate the group to discard such notions, and so instead this one acts as something of gestation document - a playfulness overstays its welcome and is booted for a more engrossing and sonically dynamic sense of paranoid bedsit isolation - not quite firmly grasped yet and allowed to run in whichever circles it pleases.
For us it merely gives glance to what would follow, but well worth investigating especially if you are intrigued by the more sprawling dark-sided projects of Bruce Russell (Dead C, A Handful Of Dust) who first released this on his iconic Corpus Hermeticum label.
