Debut outing of ambient breakbeat bliss from Terre Thaemlitz, who’d later be better known as DJ Sprinkles released via her cult Comatonse imprint. The A-side cut ‘Raw Through A Straw’ opens up with a looonnggg intro of unfathomably deep pads, strings and plaintive piano hits before launching into a rolling breakbeat groove replete with Terre’s signature untamed digi-piano improv. Still yet to hear any brave DJ deploy this in d club. The lesser appreciated ‘Tranqulizer’ on the other side takes a more sedate, meditative route, with a simple contemplative rhythm amidst warm sub-sub-sub-bass surges and glimmering melodies up top, forming the perfect land-bridge between the club and the sorely missed chill-out rooms of the 90’s...(VG+++ / VG+)
