Incredible '88 LP from esteemed composer, sound-recordist and mastering engineer Scott Fraser with Architecture - his sole vinyl release. Scrawling Fraser's credits on Discogs shows he's been very much involved with much of the interesting experimental music coming out of West Coast, working with A Produce, The Residents, The Kronos Quartet and more, which probably explains the varied nature of this one. Opening with blissful ambience and birdsong before descending into darker tones with a few pieces of fully xoned, middle-eastern inspired, droning head-melters replete with swirling, affected vocal calls from the minaret. We come out the other side in the world of classical guitar, beautifully minimalistic and appealing with subtle new-age hints, yet the standout on the B-side goes to 'Communiqué' - a beautiful quintessential pairing of American monologue and slide guitar that recalls 'Blue' Gene Tyranny's incredible Out Of The Blue LP on Lovely Music. What a great record! (NM/NM / Ex-Deadstock)
