Yes, a real bread & butter techno double pack here with a killer OG edition of Robert Hoods EPIC Minimal Nation 2xLP on Mills' Axis imprint. In the constant onslaught of new (and often copycat) electronic music, it's definitely important to remind oneself just how f*ckin revolutionary, paradigm-defining and utterly mind-blowing some of this early Detroit techno is, and Hood's Minimal Nation is (for me at least) the absolute 10ft deep, fully-cemented in foundations on which all minimal techno is laid upon. It's reduced, simmered down and vacuum-packed to the most essential ingredients, often kick-drum, bass-line and a nagging, modulating FM synth patch and the crispest hi-hats but that's all you need and it just GROOVES. Locked into a hypnotic state of hyper-sensitivity, Hood's subtle modulations of these core ingredients amplifies their effect 10 fold and before you know it you've been listening to the same track for two hours. They never tire. A true, hall-of-fame worth masterpiece. (Vinyl VG++ / VG+)
