Second LP from prolific experimental Italian artist Raffaele Serra - '89 release Ritual In Transfigured Time.  This one's a real mish-mash of inspiration, drawing on his home country's rich history of avant-garde and minimalism whilst also nodding to the more dramatic synth themes a'la Tangerine Dream / Schultz as Richard Wahnfried AND 4th world styles set out by Jon Hassle with a bit of industrial on the side.  It's short blasts of introspective instrumental menace which don't really go anywhere, but that's also the point, yet it's perfectly sequenced and goes well nicely as a whole with the more mechanical, Alessandroni-style cyclical sketches perfectly offset with wistful, gauzy passages.  (NM)
