German press of the excellent and somewhat overlooked Nada LP from German composer Peter Michael Hamel. Hamel whips up a hallucinogenic storm through Terry Riley styled repetition and some of the most pleasing organ work that have ever graced these ears, and I think what's enabled this one to age so well is that it manages to swerve any of the *cough* *cough* naff new-age signifiers it could have easily fallen prey too. Not that ANF doesn't love naff new-age signifiers. Elsewhere the German lets off a nice, chin-scratchy prepared piano piece a'la John Cage whereas the final piece 'Slow Motion' is more classically inclined but fully stripped back, resulting in a well-executed piece of minimalism that nods to Charlemagne Palestine's work. B-side is a full-side of fully horizontal synthesised head melt perfect those for hi-brow afters. Huge value for your money on this one!! (Vinyl VG+ Sleeve NM).
