Another vital outing on the blossoming Manchester-based Sferic imprint with a debut release from Russian-born, Berlin-Based artist Alexandra Zakharenko aka Perila.  Known for her involvement with the respected Berlin Community Radio outpost, as well as WET (Weird Erotic Tension) - a podcast series that joins the dots between spoken word, poetry and field recordings with a specific emphasis on sonic sexuality, Perila's Irer Dent LP follows in a similar aesthetic vein of deep REM-state ambience established by previous label alumni Echium, Space Afrika and Jake Muir.  Opener 'Nat's Poems' sets Nat Marcus' subtly hypnotic poetry against quivering sub-bass and swirling, iridescent pads.  And whilst the dialogue (recalling tales of Berlin nightlight and classic Larry Heard snippets) is an obvious human touch - there's lingering dichotomy of intimacy and detachment that adds deeper intrigue.  Flipping to the female side with 'Sweat', Inger Wold Lund's impassive, whisper-in-yer-ear erotic recital is backed by nerve-tingling sensual electronica and draws on the AMSR themes of Perila's WET series.  With overtly erotic themes rarely encountered (well-executed bordering non-existent) within experimental music, it's this that could easily become the focal point of the record, yet it's Perila's captivating, free-float sound design that holds it all together, finding a sorta sweet spot between Sam Kidel, INA-GRM Concrète and Western Mineral.  Yup, it's a good one and also a brave release from a young label continuing to push in a really interesting direction for contemporary experimental music.  (MINT / NEW).
