An Intense and other-worldly descent into the singular genius of the late North Manchester producer Muslimgauze on the seventh and final instalment to his self-released Limited Editions series.  Nestled between the earlier scruffy punk-informed sound of Kabul / E.g Oblique Graph bits and the later, headier, more opiated, droning styles of Veiled Sisters / Betrayal, etc.. ‘The Rape Of Palestine’ is a ferocious tribal assault that relies heavily on the linn drum, evoking the similar ritualistic drumming styles of traditional Japanese Taiko (of which Bryn was reportedly fond) or more modern Cut Hands outings.  The atmosphere is dense and humid, laced with tension and a sense of urgency throughout, forming hypnotic percussive assaults underpinned by flashes of traditional Middle Eastern Folk.  Despite my own borderline obsession with the output of Bryn Jones, I’ve accepted the fact that I’ll never fully understand his daunting and truly unique oeuvre, it’s just another mesmerising piece to the puzzle.  The real deal.  (NM/NM - top OG copy)
