Metta World Peace (not to be confused with the American basketball player/hip-hop musician) is the musical moniker of French filmmaker Pierre-Édouard Dumora, whose work has been shown in several cultural institutions such as Centre Pompidou (Paris), Yale Art Gallery (New Haven), and Locarno film festival (Switzerland). More than seven years after "Zanclean", his first (and only) release on the now-defunct French label Collapsing Market, MWP is back with a beautifully atmospheric album featuring an international cast of talented musicians and artists.
Assembling saxophone parts (played by his son, Orphée Dumora Grigorenko), guitar sketches, electronic sounds, field recordings, drums (played by musician Michael Speers), and vocal samples, "The Sun Will Inherit The Earth" alternates between luminous, psychedelic and dreamy moments, in-between experimental music, ambient, folk and rock. It features vocal contributions from Thomas Bush (Jolly Discs' founder and member of the duo RAP), fetva (High Heal's founder and DJ) and mosca muerta (MWP's partner in organising the "I've seen the future" events in Paris between 2014 and 2019).
