We managed to snag just a tiny handful of the highly anticipated new Megabasse LP on the great French Standard In-Fi label (other labels also involved).
For the uninitiated, Megabasse is the solo project project of guitarist Pierre Bujeau who’s also part of the great bands Tanz Mein Herz and Omertà. His instrument of choice is a double-headed 18-string guitar, which is used to create deeply plaintive repeating motifs that overlap and unfurl into infinity.
Here, the A-side was captured inside the serene St. Anne Chapel in Briquebec and is again a deeply immersive, time-dissolving epic that makes use of the expansive space to create clusters of overtones and warm bass swells. The other side however maybe the best we’ve heard from him yet. It was recorded inside the vast air-ship hangar in Ecausseville in Normandy and showcases an even deeper and notably slower playing style, creating it’s own unique harmonic spiderweb that takes you far away from your everyday. Super special ephemeral music. Frustratingly limited (and expensive) copies, we tried to get more! Sorry. (Mint / New - 1 per person only.
