Still on that Borft tip! This one compiled under their lesser-spotted Djuring Phonogram sub-label arm, bringing together archival and unreleased material from Swedish synth pioneer Jonas Broberg. It collects material plucked from his 1983 Kling Klang Salad cassette put out by cult experimental label Konduktör Rekords along with unreleased material produced at the framed Stockholm E.M.S studios. True to Börft style it doesn't take itself too seriously, favouring a more punk-informed, looser type of Scandinavian dilettantism as opposed to be more serious, darker undertones usually reserved for the types working elsewhere within in the minimal synth / noise / industrial realms. Throughout, Broberg manages to put his own slant on xoned-out modular pieces, pomp / mooching electro-struts, abstracted rhythm box experiments, scruffy DIY 'pop', lush kosmiche jaunts and ice-cold minimal synth cuts with ease, finding a weird and previously unimaginable sweet-spot between the likes of Sympathy Nervous, Pump and Klaus Schultz. Really struggling to think of a better comp of its sort in recent times, and there's been A FEW to say the least. Zero chaff here however...highest recommends.. (Mint / New).
