Deepest hi-art Fluxus bombardment from the late artist Joe Jones, offering two long-form pieces entitled 'Meditations' - originally self-released on cassette but reissued by the cherished Dutch sound-art imprint Slowscan. Best known for his automated music-making machines, here we find Jones (or his creation) THRASHING it out, akin to the incessant motor operated experiments undertaken by Remko Shah, resulting in an overwhelming, fully-transfixed eye-lid flicker of the highest order. After a while due to the unwavering agitation, overtones from the strings start to swell and harmonically interact with the tinkering percussive hits and hi-end flutters only to eventually (and un-expectantly) run out of steam, entering its death throes to give way to a sweetly sentimental, twangin’ guitar medley leaving us renewed, refreshed, baptised, reborn. A true rites of passage. What just happened?!! (NM/NM - With insert).
