A charming and lovable ‘pot-pourri’ of compositions from classically trained musicians Janet Sherbourne and Mark Lockett, who straddle the worlds of contemporary jazz and DIY avant-garde on their self-released 1990 cassette ‘Café Olé’. Taking obvious inspiration from European cafe culture, the cassette collates lively synthesiser arrangements and low-budget electronic equipment with more traditional instrumentation - piano, soft jazz brushes, percussion and acordian, with Janet’s timeless vocal settling in between. The brilliantly titled ‘Shopping Trolly Music’ is a unexpected and viciously catchy medley of classical piano riffs, congas, drum-machine and keyboard ditties, whilst ‘Dreaming’ exhibits Sherbourne’s unique vocal talents at their very best. Amazing cover, a true classic! (Mint / New - sealed deadstock).
