A life out of balance…a journey into the unknown…out of the earth from mile deep catacombs… you think you know this land, you’re wrong, dead wrong...

Bad Landscape marks the third full length release by Double Geography AKA Duncan Thornley and the first on his own label, Natural Progression.

The album leans shares the intricate, fragmented electronics and blissed out synths of the artists previous albums but with a dusty cinematic minimalism - like an unearthed relic from another world. The music for this release was created back in 2021 during one of the Covid lockdowns and feels like an artefact from a strange, liminal time.

Appealing to fans of K Leimer, Nerve Net era Brian Eno and Craig Leon. Light industrial rhythmic backdrops, mood setting pad sounds and unplaceable vocal samples all contribute to the other-world building of this immersive record.

“I started to imagine (whilst making the record) that I was creating a soundtrack to a film about cyborg insects ruling the world” The track titles are largely named according to this theme. The cover image is a 35mm photo of the inside of a WW2 bunker looking out into a sunny winter day in Rye Harbour, Sussex.
