Sweetly home-made dubbed out pop/dance experiments from auteur-savant oddball DJ F16 Falcon
The seven seems like the perfect format for this kind of record. The kind of eccentric dance outlier that can humbly propose a new, tweaked but comforting, vision of the world and be gone again all in the space of 3 tracks and roughly 9 minutes. Last week we had that excellent Lawrence Le Doux record and the equally great Sagat seven, now, newly mellowed by a move to the country, we have Parisian wunderkind DJ F16 Falcon. Breezy Compass-point synths and blocky drum machines are knocked off balance by queasy sound-design and grainy slo-mo new-beat sleaze meets a kind of disarmingly sweet diy sensibility. Another weird addictive daydream record, file alongside other dubby euro sleepers like the Warzou records on Mystery Booms or any number of little killers on Tax-Free... (Mint / New)
