A joyful left turn into bass heavy narcotics from the ever-delightful Tax Free camp..
An Exclusive 4 track 33rpm 7 of low frequency rubbery electro and g-funk influenced slo-jams cut with a decidedly wry European sense of playfulness from Tax Free label associates. There are two tracks each from DJ 2 Beers (AKA TBZ) and Amployee (who released that great LP as Employee on Tax Free last year). The first track is uptempo oddball party-electro, all orange-squash synths and stuttering vocals. But the real magic is in the other three pieces here, all much slower and lower, never quite going where you expect. 80s soul piano meets heavy-weight 808s, spacey electronics and dubby echoing snares all offset by quirky sound design and a healthy sense of the absurd. As if Asmus Tietchens released a record on Direct Beat or if DJ Quik had studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. like listening to Was Dog a Doughnut at minus 8 while the mushrooms take hold. Stop dribbling... (Mint / New - not on Discogs // ANF XXXclusive)
