Spotted this one lurking still at distro felt like it’s time to bring it back.  A mastery of A&R from Honest Jon’s, enlisting Demdike Stare AND Hype Williams to join the longgg list of re-workers set loose on the Shangaan Electro recordings.  Both unsurprisingly render the source material unrecognisable, with Demdike summoning prime late night / early morning ritual energy with primordial drum hits amidst layered tribal calls whilst the birds circle overhead.  Hype Willams on the flip morph traces of the South African stems into properly stoned, dubbed-out rework replete with loose live drums and Inga’s unmistakable vocal up top.  Still killer!  (Mint / New)
