Presenting Blackwater, a duo of geographical drifters whose outernational grooves draw on sounds snatched from their travels.
A-side Istanbul began as a recording snared while hanging out a speeding taxi. Somewhere between Karaköy and Beyoğlu; the push of rain and traffic mixing with blared advertisements.
B-side Woodstock builds around chimes sourced from the snowy hinterlands of Upstate New York. Melancholic melodies rubbing against hand drums; gradually unravelling. A deep and dubby finish with the spirit of Wareika Hill. Patterns of ritualistic Haiti.
The release was mastered for vinyl by Pole @ scape studios and comes lovingly hand-packaged with an opaque insert and individually numbered photographs taken by the duo in either Woodstock or Istanbul... (NM/NM)
