All killer no filler on this pill-nibblin’ mnml tech / house CLASSIC from Baby Ford, finally revived from the PAL SL archive and repressed for us all to enjoy.Together with the properly spangled and more exploratory Headphone Easy Rider full-length, BFORD 14 is our Manc-in-exile’s best work and comes from that mid-late 90’s period where things got dark, weird ’n groovy, separate by a million miles from some of the more commercial stink that came prior and forgettable plinky-plonk after.Atmospheric opener ‘Night D3 Died’ lays crisp ’n clinical percussion over moody, wobbling bass amidst unintelligible murmurs, whilst confirmed hit ‘Make Your Own Sunshine’ lets off frayed hi-hats atop a plump and irresistibly grooving low-end thud.The mashed, jaw-swingin’ themes continue through on the B with the sulking, murmur-heavy swing of ‘Serpentine Tale’, followed by the more alive ’n kickin’ ‘The Introducer’ to round things off.HATE describing this stuff but LOVE it a lot.Some of the best club fodder ever committed to waxxx that still cuts straight through..
