With common affinities for illbient, leftfield, and gritty sounds, DOOM TV (Loma Doom and T.S.V.T.) explore what punk can mean within other genres, leaving nothing unscathed or unmentioned.
A cartography emerges as they run lines through acoustic, fogged-out percussion, to dub-esque and throbbing metal, all the way back to noise and drone. There is no interest in being seamless or cosmetic here. Just like the tracks, the mix is sincere, pushing against the smoothed-over quality of a CDJ’s BPM-sync precision. We end up with swathes of playful and heavy moods which come and go naturally, leaving us with no notion of how much time has passed.
Recorded at Meakusma in 2024, this extract of DOOM TV’s live set is the first release of Between Stations, who start by putting their best foot forward. (Mint / New)
