Holiest of holy grails for those on the constant (perpetual) quest for obscure, bizarre and unknown sounds, immortalised on Keith Fullerton Whitman's crucial Creel Pone bootleg CDr series and deemed LOST up until relatively recently, this originally '82 LP led by the Collectif Musique Verte with the guidance of French polyglot Jean-Yves Bosseur. Taking influence from France's long-standing traditions in the field of musique concrete, this one, whilst largely acoustic, seeks to replicate the sound of nature with hand-made, primitive instruments - on mass. It's an organic ensemble of unusual sonorities and timbres that completely blurs the boundaries between human and environmental sound, so much so that it's entirely impossible to determine. I literally have no idea why such a record exists but I'm SO glad it does. Incredible. (Mint / New)
