Brutal and completely fu*ked up early AFX release from our lord, our savour Richard D. James on Rephlex with Analogue Bubblebath 4. Definitely not his lightest offering, this is Aphex gone feral with the notorious and affectionally known track 'The Elephant Song' - a sort of masochistic onslaught on the eardrums with the fully-clipped wails of what is assumed to be D. James himself over the top. Seriously who else could pull this off? Elsewhere find the slipperier 'Cuckoo Song' which races along with its crisp drum programming and light, woozy melodic rain, another slab of 'Untitled' ear-piercing, acidic hammer blows and a further, more restraint piece of melancholic downtempo. A definitive release! (Vinyl / Sleeve VG+).
