What is ProCare? A first glance seemingly a low-budget executive wellness course that’s just about graduated out of the MS-DOS design realm, but in reality one of Tokyo’s most mythologised underground dance troupes.
Purefessional Pt.2 offers up a varied batch of off-centre dance tracks from the crew’s revolving roster together with like-minded international artists, giving a strong sound anchor into a scene that seems more fictional than reality. Regular Trilogy Tapes cohorts Buttechno and DJ Trystero appear, the former raining down epic stuttering drum breaks and the later coalescing a trademark runaway 909 jam out of the analogue fog. Purelink’s mood-setting melancholic half-step on ‘Berst’ sits nicely on that Bblisss / West Mineral axis with whom the ProCare crew maintain a close association to, whilst Swedish duo Sacred Grove’s ‘No Feeling’ prompts a deluge of serotonin with it’s accelerated sun-kissed summer-endless drive. But it’s ‘RIII’ from newcomer Koga Miyata we can’t get enough off - an unashamedly techy affair that evokes early morning dancing at Club Der Visionaere or the golden era days of Perlon / Melchior Productions. Dance CDs are a tough sell but the standard of the tracks speaks for themselves. Not got many! (Mint / New - with free DL!).
