Discovering the archive of Malmö librarian and part-time master musician Petter Herbertsson last year was one of the most eye-opening discoveries we can remember.His rotating assembly project Testbild! returns here with Bed Stilt, casting their eyes over their 25-year strong history and revisiting previously unreleased material from the mid 00’s.It’s a sublime and charming suite of enchanting Canterbury-inspired songwriting and fairytale indie-pop that often feels oddly surreal as it does totally addictive.Flourishes of catchy piano-led melodies and slouchy harmonica notes lay the foundations for bucolic vocals and choir calls, occasionally following pop conventions before catapulting into chaotic tangents.It’s a dizzying but throughly enjoyable experiences that fully challenges our own notion of ‘the underground’ in a way we just can’t quite get enough off.Turns out that real music and people proficient with their instruments are great too!Mastered and additional production by Civilistjavel.Ridiculously limited to 109 copies unfortunately, 1 per person pls!(Mint / New)
