Lyster's increasingly vital YOUTH imprint continues it's momentum by serving up a fresh new cassette LP from unknown (to me at least?) Italian producer SSIEGE. In a left turn from the more recent, pricklier offers from FUMU, Hoshina Orchestra aad L.Lund, 'Fading Summer' positions itself for a front to back listen, taking you on a varied ride thru smudgy ambient pop, purple-hued motorik trips, glassy midi-chime reductions and more maximalist contemporary electronica. Despite the breath of the sound-palette however, there's nothing on here that sounds out of place - providing a rare opportunity to actually just stick something on and melt into it for a bit. But more than anything, it re-confirms the assured ears behind the YOUTH imprint in plucking out these contemporary gems amidst an ocean of mediocrity. Will keep coming back to this one. (Mint / New).
