Wistful, self-released contemporary jazz fusion LP resureccted from the vaults of South-London composer and musician Peter Hall, originally put out via his short-lived Prototype Records label. The title piece is a wilting voyage anchored by Hall’s incredible Flamenco Guitar that rifles through multiple complex scales I’m not even going to pretended to understand or be able to identify, softly tempered by subtle electronics and shifting between unusual experimental free-improv techniques to more classical / contemporary (I.E NICE) sounding 12-string shred. On the other-side, ‘Full Moon Over Madrid’ is a livelier array of drums, 6-stringed and double-bass together with cherished Soprano Sax player Lol Coxhill that moves between tense moments of shimmering, tentative hi-hat tinkering to calmer, more sparse passages textured by unusual string agitation, whilst ‘Guitar - Violin Duo No.2’ that rounds off the LP is exactly that - a spirited interplay between flamenco guitar and Jon Rose’s vibrant violin work.Beautiful and endearing (very neatly) hand-drawn credits and artwork on the reverse and labels - another great and unfairly overlooked release from the ocean of home-brewed DIY contemporary jazz albums of the 80s.Unplayed dead-stock copies - (NM/NM).
