Huge 'Trance' from British duo Optic Eye. This one strays close to the Goa-trance danger line, some might even say it steps over it at some points, but this one has been a personal favourite of mine for a while because it does so much. It's definitely the right kind of trance, aka not the shit stuff Paul Van Dyke plays in Ibiza, more of the trance-inducing variety with slowww druggy chuggers, huge swooshing pads and tripped-out melodies to guarantee heavy synaptic activity in ur occipital lobe. The obvious (and somewhat iffy) eastern cultural appropriation only adds to the charm (see 'Eye Of India'); other pieces are up there with the lusher, more ambient side of UK techno ('Flight'), whilst the heavy worm-holing 'Trance Dance' manages to incorporate a sort of digi-didgeridoo to deadly effect. Unashamedly influenced by hallucinogenics (look at that cover ffs). Big one. (Vinyl + Cover VG+).
