Another monster archival plunge by the great French Camisole label, who come up big with this long-lost wantlist topper from Nuts & Co. Originally dropped on the great F.L.V.M 'label' (Faites Le Vous-Même = Do It Yourself) - a collective set up with the purpose of releasing self-produced musicians that would be otherwise ignored by major labels. Fuck yeahhhhh. It's not hard to see why the stuffy majors wouldn't go near this one, it's a misshapen mongrel of styles that flirts between German and French at will, infused with a hefty dose of dada influence and the spirit of fearless dilettantism.Tracks like the title track ‘Kangourou’ and ’Nuit De Chine’ share the same restless ADHD minimal wave spirit as fellow French pranksters Ptôse, whereas as the 4th world inspired highlight ‘Semite’ nods to French ethno-industrial outfit Vox Populi!.There’s so much going on here that at first it feels really difficult to digest in one gulp - as confronting as that very European post-krautrock / punk-informed mindset found in the works of H.N.A.S mixed with the arty awkwardness of Palais Schaumburg.. but yeah once it clicks. One of THE great European records of it kind.. (NM)..
