Original 10” self-titled slab from cult female-fronted Punk / No-Wave outfit Non Band - the unique, short-lived trio hailing from the snowy Northern Japan outpost of Hirosaki.Growing out of the late 70’s Japanese punk movement, determined band leader Non played in some of the early originators of the movement, before gaining attention through her striking solo performances and eventually forming the Non Band with Kinosuke Yamagishi on violin and clarinet and Mitsuru Tamagaki on drums.Their solo studio release was light years ahead of everyone on the pack, a brave and eclectic advancement on punk, with odd elements of No Wave / Lo-Fi.Non’s striking, attitude-laced vocal cuts through everything, with stripped-back drum rhythms and and the wailing Yamagishi’s wailing violin threading everything together.Just as the press caught on, the group had already disbanded, writing themselves into eternal musical obscurity..
