Low-flying, all-Salford outing from Negra Branca on the Islington Mill associated Ono Tesla imprint with the 2014 (!) LP N B. It's kaleidoscopic take on a ripe stain DIY Balearic (is that even a thing?) that feels like it SHOULD have been done before, and if it has, none as well as this. The purple-hued, wide-eyed opener sets u up for something that could easily bubble over, yet the eccentric scattered snares, tinkering string melodies and scorched vox on 'Beira Beira' plunges us right back into the sorta weirdo dream-pop aesthetic that I can't literally find enough of. Other moments brew on sweetly sentimental, reverb-drenched acoustic moments that recall the best of Liz Harris but less GLOOMY, or the more repetitious, synth-pop delusion 'Importa' that re-enforces the 'Balearic' vibe with radio snippets from the White Isle, whilst 'Farca Do Inberno' offers a more feral, brooding, hi-folk / improv sorta thing that doesn't feel outta place at all. Super varied, very cool record! (NM / Dead-stock).
