We’re super pleased to score copies of this weird and languorous LP of expanded jazz/pop constructions from Japanese accordion and contrabass duo mamma!milk.
With the same out of nowhere feel as recent favourites like that Salenta & Topu LP or Plantar's excellent 10” this 2008 LP feels like a DIY take on the greatest euro arthouse film you've never seen. It’s easy to picture hot empty towns at noon or paranoid hotel room afternoons, slow spinning ceiling fans and fragrant desert island dusks. This is music rooted in jazz and tango but that also feels heavily indebted to Canterbury/art-rock/R.I.O with a heady perfumed atmosphere that conjures Slapp Happy, Kevin Ayers in Borneo or Janet Sherbourne’s Latin miniatures. Just as the summer lurches to life, skip straight to the dog days and swoon... (Mint / New)
